英明的君主担心奉承自己的人多，以至于没有机会可以听到自己的过错，因此向敢谏臣子开放上谏的管道，以便可以接纳违反自己意思的言论。如果提出的谏言出自忠诚，虽然其内容不完全妥当，还是可以欣然接受的。

A sagacious ruler apprehends those who toady to him are so numerous that he has no chance to hear of his own faults. Therefore, he opens the channel of admonition to the ministers who dare counsel in order to accept their remarks going against his wishes. Suppose the admonition is delivered out of fidelity, it still can be readily received, though its contents are not completely proper.(Vol.49 Fu Zi)
